The Lodge at Torrey Pines is located on Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, California, one of Southern California’s most picturesque destinations and site of the 2008 and 2021 U.S. Open Championships. The original property was built as a 74-room inn in 1961 and was purchased by the Evans Family in 1995. In 2000, the hotel was closed, most areas of the hotel were demolished, and the property was completely redeveloped. Reopened in early 2002, The Lodge today is a 169-room luxury hotel built in the early California craftsman style. The property includes two restaurants (the signature A.R. Valentien fine dining restaurant and The Grill), two lounges, a full-service spa and fitness center, extensive banquet and meeting facilities, and an ample outdoor recreation area with pool, whirlpool spa, cabanas, and food and beverage service. The Lodge also has the exclusive right to sell food and beverages on the adjacent golf courses and operates beverage carts and a snack bar there. The hotel received an AAA five-diamond rating upon reopening in April 2002 and has continued to be awarded the prestigious award since then.
Owned and operated by the Evans Family since it was built in 1953, the Bahia Resort Hotel is located in the heart of Mission Bay, two blocks from the Pacific Ocean and just minutes from SeaWorld and a short drive to other major San Diego attractions. A San Diego destination rich in tradition, the 314-room Bahia enjoys a privileged site on a 14-acre private peninsula surrounded by a white sandy beach. All spacious and comfortable rooms, suites, and beach cottages have balconies or patios, many offering spectacular views of the Pacific and Mission Bay. Each guestroom at the resort is beautifully decorated in light, breezy colors and all guest rooms are well appointed to meet the demands of today’s traveler. Facilities include a restaurant (Café Bahia), lounge (Tangier Bar), extensive convention facilities, tennis courts, swimming pool, whirlpool Jacuzzi, two authentic Sternwheelers and a marina. The 20,000 square feet of versatile conference space can accommodate groups of 10 to 1,200. The Bahia is unsurpassed for functionality for meetings, events and special occasions. All 12 function rooms are complemented by breathtaking, stunning panoramic ocean and bay views.
After purchasing land on the northwest corner of Mission Bay from the Scripps family in 1958, the Evans family opened the Catamaran Hotel in 1959 as an 82-room inn. Now with 311 rooms, the Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa offers a tropical elegance inspired by Polynesia. Located just steps from Mission Bay and across the street from the Pacific, the Catamaran features guest rooms and suites, each with its own private balcony or patio, as well as views of the water or tropical gardens. The Catamaran showcases San Diego’s only beachfront spa along with an open-air fitness facility with a 180-degree view of the Bay. Spa treatments and specialized Rituals are based on Polynesian, Thai and a variety of other South Pacific traditions. The Atoll restaurant offers bayside dining for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and an award-winning Sunday brunch, while Moray’s Lounge has an expansive patio area that includes fire pit and waterfront seating. The Catamaran’s 14 function rooms offer 20,000 square feet of versatile space and an invigorating setting for meetings, conferences, weddings, and special occasions.
The Bahia Sternwheelers are two reproduction paddlewheelers docked at the Bahia Resort Hotel. The 60-foot Bahia Belle is available for regularly-scheduled evening cocktail/dancing cruises and private charter. The 100-foot William D. Evans was built from the keel up in 1986 and is authentically antebellum in every detail. It is available exclusively for private catered events and chartered cruising.
Built in 1983 to house vintage cars owned by the late Bill Evans Sr., Evans Garage is an ever-evolving collection of vehicles spanning seven decades. Among its more notable treasures is the 1909 Blitzen-Benz, which once held the international speed record of 142 mph. Suspended overhead is a 1917 De Havalland biplane from the Royal British Flying Corps, which reigns as the building’s striking centerpiece.
Belmont Laundry is located on the same property adjacent to Evans Garage. The Laundry is a large facility that employs approximately 35 employees and has a variety of industrial-sized machines that wash, dry, and press all of the linen, including sheets, towels, tablecloths and napkins for all of our San Diego resorts. The linen is transported to and from the hotels daily by our own laundry drivers. Although the laundry is physically located away from the hotels, the team there plays an integral role in creating a positive experience for our guests.
